Additional FastCap Accuscribe Scribing Tool Information

The Accuscribe from FastCap scribes cabinet trim, architectural moldings, countertops, tile and more for cleaner cuts and more creative freedom on a wide variety of projects. The Accuscribe maintains consistent scribe offset and stays parallel to surfaces as you mark out the pattern or cut-- a great feature for installing splash guards, cutting tile, and designing floors. The device's adjustable grip locks standard-size pencils tightly in place. The AccuScribe is made of heavy-duty, indestructible polymer for years of reliable use. The unit's articulating pencil head increases flexibility for scribing over a wide variety of materials and textures. A removable compass point makes it easy to scribe circles and circular patterns. A handy storage clip for the compass point ensures optimal safety and longer compass life. The AccuScribe's non-rocking bottom keeps the unit flat against the surface or wall for flush contact with the pencil tip. The tool collapses to a compact size to take up less room in the toolbox. The Accuscribe measures 5-3/4 by 4-13/16 inches when fully extended (length by height). --Brian D. Olson

What Customers Say About FastCap Accuscribe Scribing Tool:

While it still takes up space in my toolbag, I often find it easier to cut a gauge block out of a piece of scrap and sharpen my carp pencil than to use the Accuscribe to scribe a joint.I would be willing to pay more, for a great idea that was also well executed. The movement of the arms is not smooth which makes it difficult to fine tune the adjustment.

What makes their tools even more appealing is the seemingly reasonable price at which this innovation is offered. Granted, FastCap has developed many innovative designs when it comes to woodworking tools.

However, the surfaces of the two-piece molded plastic frame do not align properly and flex a great deal. But after using this scribe and their "Flatback" measuring tape for a couple of years I would have to say that the reasonable price is not a worthwhile trade-off for the substandard quality of the materials and workmanship delivered.

The flat reference surface, articulated marking arm, knurled brass knobs, and built-in pencil sharpener are fantastic ideas. There is a metal pin encased in the plastic housing that is supposed to be retractable enabling the tool to be used as a compass, but the pin will stay locked neither in the extended position nor the retracted position making it a useless annoyance.

Best Compass and scribe I have used.Even has a built in pencil sharpener. A real bonus.

putting up sheatrock in an older home with no straight walls, worked perfect and sved me alot of time

Adjustment knobs are solid, no slop. Does it's job well and the price is right. Built-in pencil sharpener is very clever and incredibly handy.Cons: Too big/clunky, won't fit into the utility knife-sized slots in most tool belts. I'm a finish carpenter and I've been using it for a month or so. Pros: Flat bottom for accurate scribing to smooth surfaces, Retractable metal point for rough/irregular materials. The flat bottom is nice but it is so wide that it makes the tool needlessly bulky and inaccurate on semi-rough surfaces (like heavily-textured walls and ceilings). The triple adjustment knob setup is a little awkward, it's almost impossible to adjust it one-handed while holding moldings with the other.

great product, well thought out. By far the best scribe that i have used. Plus it has a pencil sharpener
